Remit of the group
The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRC) West works with its partner organisations to conduct applied health research and implement research evidence, to improve health and healthcare across the West of England.
CLAHRC West undertakes applied health research projects, in collaboration with its partners who include University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust, local providers of NHS services and NHS commissioners, universities, local authorities and third sector and patient/user organisations, and the West of England Academic Health Science Network (WEAHSN).
CLAHRC West is committed to a collaborative approach to Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) across research and the delivery of health care and services. This approach links patient and public involvement across CLAHRC West, the WEAHSN, the Clinical Research Network (CRN) West of England, the Health Protection Research Unit, and Bristol Health Partners. These key partners work with NHS Trusts and other service providers, local universities and clinical commissioning groups, including local Healthwatch and the Research Design Service South West.
This joined up approach to patient and public involvement creates the opportunity for integrated and strategic involvement, where patients, service users and carers (and the wider public) can have a strong voice in health research and care, and help to improve the health of people in the West of England.
There is an opportunity to get involved in a wide range of research including both mental, physical and public health research.
