Liz chairs a new London think-tank – the Centre for London – and is on the board of Sanctuary housing association and Birkbeck College. She is a carer and interested in improving outcomes for people with schizophrenia and helping those who love them. A couple of years ago she had the idea for a Schizophrenia Commission and became a Commissioner. This was managed by Rethink Mental Illness and reported in November 2012. Liz now chairs the implementation group.
Liz was formally Regional Director at the Government Office for the North West based in Manchester and Liverpool delivering policies and programmes for 11 Whitehall Departments. Her career has centred on tackling urban regeneration, combating social exclusion and worklessness. Liz was the official leading the team which created the Greater London Authority.
